As a Transformational Executive Coach for healthcare professionals, Andrea has found that people do not work for a job but for a purpose - the patient. The foundation of leadership is self-awareness. This is essential to learn and practice in order to build trust and create an environment of dignity and respect for the patient, their family and the healthcare professionals serving them. Awareness also encompasses others and the system.  When there is a breakdown in the system the patient is not being cared for effectively and a breakdown in trust occurs. Building trust, being aware of how you manage yourself and others, the energy you bring to work and how you communicate will create a more caring and effective healthcare system which benefits the patient and their families. Trust is key in developing and fostering relationships with others. As a coach Andrea co-creates with the client the transformation to lead with their head and heart.

 Andrea is a Certified Executive Coach (CEC) from Royal Roads University, a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and an Associate Certified Coach (ACC). She is also a member of the Canadian College of Health Care Leaders (CCHL) and a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE). She has a Masters in Leadership specializing in health (MAL) from Royal Roads University, a business certificate in Not-for-Profit Organization from Concordia University, and a Bachelor in Arts (Sociology) from McGill University. She is certified in Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) Level I and II, SDI® Level I, EQi 2.0 and EQi 360, a LEADS Coach with the LEADS Collaborative through the CCHL, and an Enhanced Skills Coach with Conversational Intelligence (C-IQ). She also trained in the Leadership Models Essential for Organizational Coaches and Coach Master Toolkit from the World Business Executive Coaches (WBEC).

Andrea is active in her community on a number of not-for-profit boards and presently holds the position of Executive Member of the NEON Lights CCHL Chapter, President of Searchmont Ski Association (SSAI), Chair of the Governance and Development Committee of SSAI, is a member of the Algoma Music Conservatory Capital Campaign, and has served in the past as Chair of the Sault Ste. Marie Physician Retention Committee.

 Andrea lives in the Northern Ontario community of Sault Ste. Marie and has an active lifestyle with her husband, Dr. Graham Elder, and two teenage children. She loves being in nature either downhill skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, or hiking. She practices yoga, pilates, and Reiki. Balancing work, family, and herself is part of being a happy and resilient coach and allows her to help others reach their potential and possibilities.
